Globally Accessible and Persistent Information Dissemination

As I will be doing for you more and more in the near future, I am now going to look into my crystal ball and tell you how information will be disseminated tomorrow.

** DEAR WRITING PROFESSIONAL: Did I bury this lead (text below) “I sincerely believe free access to information is a more important priority than clean water…”

First, here’s how information is disseminated today: Someone creates a website and hosts it on a server. The information exists on the author’s computer(s), on the web hosting company computer(s), and temporarily (and very informally) on your computer. If the author dies, and the web hosting is turned off (due to nonpayment), then the information is left only in the memory of those who saw it.
Tomorrow, information will be distributed on peer-to-peer networks akin to BitTorrents with the following enhancements:
(1) The stores should include logical association to a web site including html files and content.
(2) When the “torrent browser” connects to a “site” they really connect first to a root node of some sort to find torrents for a “site” and then to one or more of those torrent peers to download the root page for the site. Then things progress from there — the torrent network is used to download the content to fill out the page.
(3) People with computers can volunteer to become store locations for a site they like — see, they’re helping they’re fellow man. All they do is click “host this site” on their browser and they’re registered with all the peers as a source for the site. The software can be tuned to automatically throttle their bandwidth use — reserving it for their day-to-day work and limiting it based on their billing arrangement with their upstream provider (some networks charge for bandwidth usage, some do not).
Why is this important?
First, it saves on expenses and resources because the load is shared between the peers.
Second, you will see LIGHTNING FAST downloads.
Also:
We have reached the age when people are free to say whatever they want. Some of these things they have to say are going to challenge those who we believe have power over our lives. They have financial interests, or pure power interests, in the information you receive because their power is seated in your belief that they have it.
If information is disseminated in this distributed fashion then no matter what happens to the author, the message can never be erased from human memory. This will entice people to be freer with their words and things that need to be said today, but are not, will be tomorrow.
All power is an illusion. Your universe only has one person in it — you. You are the god in your universe. Start making decisions as one. Start deciding right and wrong for yourself based on a model you agree with… then expand on it.
Someone please start on this if you haven’t already.
Oh, and if you’re worried about terrorist organizations using such a system to distribute information — don’t. They’re using the Internet already to do it. Because these networks are distributed doesn’t mean the good guys can’t track down the source — it’s more difficult, but our government has lots of fantastic resources. Gosh, the record industry was able to track down people uploading music using BitTorrent, so I think the government could find a terrorist if he’s dumb enough to use such a system. Let’s hope he is that dumb. A dumb terrorist is, well, still a terrorist.
Also: The People of the United States — the beacon of freedom for this planet — need to make it their mission in life to bring the Internet to every living soul. If this means putting up satellites at taxpayer expense and dropping boxes of rotary-powered, handheld terminals, then so be it. This is a moral imperative and people are dying out there because they do not have free access to information nor any way to disseminate news and contact the outside world.
I sincerely believe free access to information is a more important priority than clean water — if you have free access to information then you can change your government, get things in order, and start purifying the water. The only reason these people do not have clean water is because the people in power in their countries are hording resources. They suck. Stick it to them… Drop in those terminals and free those minds.
HOW YOU CAN HELP

Please retweet this. Send it to your congressperson. Send it to the paper. Copy and paste it and claim it’s your idea. I really don’t mind. Just help those people, please.

Please tell President Obama I said Hello and Congratulations.

I love you.
