Twitter Client Idea

It’s not supposed to be a conversation tool, but the Twitter-snobs can bite me.  The fact is that lots of conversations take place on Twitter.

Here: Do a Twitter client that keeps caches off everything on the timeline to quickly display the timeline in a format that makes it easy to follow the threading.

Put the main timeline on the right side of the window.  Immediately to the left of a tweet, put the tweet to which that tweet was a reply.  Then keep putting up tweets to the left… so the thread started all the way on the left, leading up to the most current tweet which was on the right.

You could put additional columns to the right if you want to isolate mentions or DMs, but I think it’s probably possible to keep everything in the main timeline with some sort of special scroll control that will take you between mentions that are unread.  Perhaps it would be easy to just click a button, collapsing the whole timeline into just mentions and/or DMs.

Can you make money at it?
