Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

This is from a conversation on YouTube concerning the movie, The Matrix:

I wrote:

This whole movie at the lowest level is a metaphor for our relationship with God and his system. Of course, the manifest symbolism is that the system is our post-industrial society. Don’t ask me… 🙂

@aBigHairySpider No it isn’t.

My response:
Catching symbolism depends on your frame of reference. If I call you Duke, then you have no idea the symbolism I’ve employed because you don’t know Duke.

And, some people will stop at their first level of understanding. It’s necessary — if we paid attention to everything then we’d probably never get anything done… or at least those Earthly tasks that support our beer habits.

You may think the Wizard of Oz is about a girl from Kansas who goes to Oz. 🙂

When of course, Wizard of Oz is about the man behind the curtain. He’s just a man… God is too, unseen.

Later, it went on:

@aBigHairySpider It’s not about the man behind the curtain. But I know you cultists will twist anything to fit your beliefs so I’m not even going to bother.

@mymarkis666 I’m not a cultist. Sheesh. 🙂 A cultist wants to follow someone or be followed. I don’t care if you agree or not. Apparently your favorite disposition is, “No.”

@aBigHairySpider You follow religion, no?

@mymarkis666 No, I’m not religious in the least bit.

@mymarkis666 You don’t just believe in gravity do you? Or, are you a believer, following the GM/r2 cult?

@mymarkis666 I need to stop using the word “God,” in some circles. I’m in the habit of doing it because I argue against religion frequently and that name is one people accept. “Universe,” “whatever is out there,” “our shared consciousness,” and “the source,” all work for me better.

@mymarkis666 And if you read the books about Oz they’re all morality stories with lots of symbolism about God (not about the religious view of Him). CS Lewis is a little more about Jesus, but he’s another story.

@aBigHairySpider There’s nothing out there that’s influencing us.

@mymarkis666 Ok, I’ll take your word for it. 🙂
