Good Morning, God!

Good morning, God!
 ·
    • Joe Winett Thanks again. I know you saw it, but Cosmo just came in and crunched up Nacho’s whole bowl of food like it was a snack. Or like he was visiting someone’s office and just ate all the M&M’s in the little thing. Nacho’s checking it out now. Doesn’t look pissed. 🙂

    • Joe Winett Hahah… I refilled the bowl and Nacho thinks it’s seconds. There’s nothing in catfood that hurts dogs, surely…

    • Joe Winett Nacho can’t believe what she’s seeing.

    • Joe Winett There is dog food out there. Isn’t there?

    • Joe Winett Oh, now he’s cleaning up the floor. Thanks, Cosmo!

    • Joe Winett Food gone, again.

    • Joe Winett Cosmo is outside. Little Bit is inside. Now Nacho is relaxing with a self-licking…

    • Joe Winett Oh wait, she’s thinking about attacking Little Bit. That would be a pretty good fight.

    • Joe Winett Nope, back to cleaning.

    • Joe Winett Little Bit has the most hilarious fighting style I’ve ever seen of a dog. She turns sideways… I guess it makes her look bigger or something. It’s so funny. Her back end jumps over to the left, and then her back end jumps to the right, her head swiveling to keep the bogey in her sights.

    • Connie Austria Sevilla Good morning son!

44 minutes ago via mobile ·
    • Joe Winett Anyway, God, I’m using the name, “God,” this morning to show a little more appreciation. Universe, or Everything, or Dude, or Little Voice, or Jerry, or *, or ?, whatever… Thanks. My little voice kept telling me to be patient, not to push, relax, stop struggling (you’re just getting in deeper), all that… and my big voice used to argue, telling me to be a man, make it happen, you’re falling behind.

    • Joe Winett Opened my Bible in 2007 (for really the first time since I was a kid and gave up in the middle of Genesis) and this was right there… And I knew it was a sign:

    • Joe Winett Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

    • Joe Winett ‎(1) Don’t take advice from people who aren’t on your side, (2) but don’t judge and become the law, (3) take pleasure in being on the good side, (4) think day and night to figure out which is the good side, (5) you will have everything you need, (6) your fruit will come when it’s ready [of particular interest to me because I know what I could do, but I was beating myself up for not doing it NOW NOW NOW], (7) he’ll be healthy, (8) his stuff will work out.

    • Joe Winett For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

    • Joe Winett THANKS!!

    • Joe Winett That’s what’s happened for me.

37 minutes ago via mobile ·
    • Joe Winett The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

    • Joe Winett Got tweenie to wake up. She wasn’t going to go for her last day, but then decided to go while we were talking about how important it is to go when people expect you to go… something like that. Apparently there’s going to be some room cleanup to do. I said I liked the last day of school when I went. (Like I chose to!! haha I would have stayed home if I had the option… anyway.. SMILES!!)

    • Joe Winett She’s up!! It took some doing. The final straw was, “You don’t want me to wake your mother up, do you?”

    • Joe Winett haha

    • Joe Winett I’ve been saying “Wakey Wakey, Gentlemen!!” which is what Terry used to say when he woke us up at the shelter. The men hated it so much, they got up. haha Brilliant. Terry would say it like he was going out of his way to be weenie. What a great man, Terry Decker. I hope he’s okay, God.

    • Joe Winett Connie, I though this was interesting: Jeremiah 31:3 Or Lord has appeared to us from afar… Looks like it’s one of these that it’s worth looking back through all the reinterpretations…

    • Joe Winett KJV: The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

    • Joe Winett See, I back up into Jeremiah 30 and right there is where I jump back out. Lots of guys like to say from the pulpit that you can’t just cherry pick from the Bible and call yourself a Christian, so I don’t call myself a Christian. I think it’s every individual’s responsibility to be critical of everything they see, hear, and read, and taste, and smell, and feel. It’s our job, as the Universe’s little boots on the ground.

    • Joe Winett When someone tries to tell me that I have to accept EVERYTHING then they’re in more authority over me than God… because that person claims to have read EVERYTHING and know EVERYTHING, and therefore I should rely on him and the organization. (That’s the implication… I don’t think, except in a couple of cases, that those people mean it in a bad way… the Bible and the organization has helped millions upon millions of people find peace, and I’m not going to crap all over that.)

    • Joe Winett When I was young, I thought my purpose was to bring religion down, because it was keeping people from God, and then I noticed that God pretty much kept me out of touch… MORE TRAINING, MEAT!!!

    • Joe Winett It’s not my job to whip anyone into walking to the water… It’s just my job to take a drink and gurgle loudly.

    • Joe Winett I caused my best friend, in 2002 or 03 or so, to consider dropping me right there because I was discussing what to him I’m sure seemed like heresy — logically resolving the reasons for the stories of the Bible and the coming of the New Testament? Jesus is a character created by the Greatest Writer (who writes the songs that make the whole world sing)? That went against everything he’d been trying so hard to believe…

    • Joe Winett So I learned never to discuss this stuff like it’s a political debate. It’s not.

    • Joe Winett And Jesus is certainly real today. For sure, the character of Jesus represents the character of the Universe.

    • Joe Winett Better than any I’ve found, and I searched for years.

    • Joe Winett The true nature of everything does not fit into our common experience here on Earth. It was necessary for things to be communicated in ways that were extensions of what we already had learned.

    • Joe Winett Jesus is King of Kings — we understood kings.

    • Joe Winett I believe that the bits about having to accept Jesus to enter the gates of heaven was put in there for some pretty good reasons. It was in the self-interest of the church. The power of the church was abused from time to time, but probably less than the powers of every day kings and tyrants. At least the power of the church was exercised in the name of God (which doesn’t mean anything except that it put some psychological pressure on the person wielding it). In the case of pathological tyrants, doing things in the name of God just poured fuel on the fire.

    • Joe Winett This was all foreseen, I’m sure.

    • Joe Winett I like to Monday morning quarterback everything (I call it War Gaming when I’m thinking into the future) and I really can’t think of anything I would do, if I was God, to make it any different. I don’t think it is in God’s power to move mountains any faster than they move already (geologically). But I’m awed that they’re moving… and that we’re intelligent enough to have figured that out.

    • Joe Winett So, Thanks God, for today. And although you don’t ask for my worship, you certainly have my respect and appreciation.
