Suddenly I’m rethinking using Flash for stuff… I hate to jump ship, because I love Flash/Actionscript, but the idea of authoring over and over once for PC and then for mobile/HTML5 bothers me. The question would be — how often do I really use features of Actionscript and Flash’s event model / layering / layer mixing and how hard would it be to use HTML5 canvas through JS. These sorts of decisions have caused paralysis in me before and I’m leaning towards any content being worth the work — the art is the hard part anyway, and I don’t do the art so much anyway…
Joe WinettOne thing that could push me over to using Flash anyway is the idea of AIR — sort of Flash for the Desktop (Windows and Mac, no conversions) — and that I’m mostly interested in Children… the largest market being to people who have PCs and don’t hand their phones over to kids.
Joe WinettHowever, kids bored in waiting rooms (and, SHIVER, at dinner tables) is one reason parents hand over their phones or buy an extra iPad for the kids. I hated to see kids entertained at tables at Frateli’s rather than learning to be interested in polite conversation and taught how to participate by adults eating with them, but to each parent her or his own.
