Sarah Palin admires Simon Cowell

In her latest book, Sarah Palin revealed her admiration for Simon Cowell, writing that Cowell is “almost alone in his willingness to tell hard truths” to bad singers.

“No one they’ve encountered in their lives – from their parents to their teachers to their president – wanted them to feel bad by hearing the truth. So they grew up convinced they could become big pop stars like Michael Jackson.”

Their president??

Wow.  It’s ironic that she admires someone who tells people coldly, sometimes meanly, that they’re not good enough to make their dream happen.

Their president??

Was she implying that these kids think they can sing because Clinton lied?

What?

The book was leaked.  There are scans of pages here http://gawker.com/5692353/sarah-palins-new-book-leaked-excerpts

If you read those couple of paragraphs she’s talking about self-esteem being out of control in this country, but she’s mixed it up in the wrong order.  And I’m still not sure how the President fits in with self esteem.

The President never heard me sing and then said, “That was great — very professional!”

It’s kind of scary that she thinks the President needs to hand out the hard truths… like finding people who are attempting to achieve what she thinks they cannot, and redirect them into another path.  That’s a job for kind parents and friends… not politicians.
